Lunahuasi the home of the Luna family, is located in the rainforest of the Puerto Quito province of Ecuador. A virgin jungle, it is the haven of many wild animals and sacred plants and has been the site of Shamanic ceremony for many generations.
The property, though privately owned by the Luna family for generations, is under threat of development. Surrounding property has been bought by wealthy people and is being cleared - to the point that the flow of water in the rivers is being affected. It is common in Ecuador for people to invade seemingly unoccupied land and assume it for their own. Animals are being poached. Plants are being destroyed. The opening of Lunahuasi to the world will prevent such attacks on the Luna land and the flora and fauna it supports.
To this end, Lunahuasi, Inc., a non-profit organization was created. It has a two part mission: 1) To protect the Luna property along with the animals that live on it and preserve the flora and fauna it supports, and 2) To maintain an international healing center offering opportunities for Ecuadorian Shamans to conduct healing rituals and ceremonies for the benefit of
local people and international visitors.
This is in keeping with the vision of the parents of the Luna brothers who were both Shamans. They envisioned the building of an international center where Shamans from all over the world would come to share wisdom and knowledge with each other. It would be a place where people seeking spiritual growth and healing could come to live among the Luna family and visiting Shamans.
This center would be in the place where the Lunas had lived for generations, Lunahuasi ("home of the Lunas").
Now that vision is taking form. Lunahuasi will soon be open to people from around the world, including scientists, doctors and other professionals who wish to study the healing effects of Shamanism, North American indigenous medicine people (the meeting of the Eagle and the Condor),
and anyone who needs spiritual healing.
To reach this goal Lunahuasi, Inc. is in the process of raising funds to dig a well, erect a fence surrounding the Lunahuasi land, build a healing center and cabanas so that visitors have a place to stay.
Your support to Lunahuasi will ensure:
- Sharing of the Lunas' Shamanism with the world, including study by scientists,
- Continued preservation of ancient Shamanic traditions on sacred land,
- Revitalization of Native spiritual traditions in the Northern continent,
- Protection of the Lunahuasi property from development by interests that do not respect virgin land, and
- Protection of the animals on the property and the sacred plants (many that do not exist elsewhere on Earth).
The clock is ticking … it is conservatively estimated that in another year, private interests will prevail in efforts to overrun and usurp this beautiful, pristine jungle.
